The generated shock wave created by the plasma discharge can remove mineral deposits, small shell fish, crustaceans and other concretions that attach to permanent structures such as the boiler feed water pipes for power production plants, as well as prevent the initial attachment of these obstructive marine "life-forms". It has also been found that by intermittently pulsing the water, the "larvae" of these life-forms will not attach and will continue to drift beyond the pressure wave influence zone.
